Reasons why QBCFMonitorService keeps stopping your PC

This mostly happens when you open a company file in QuickBooks, or you share it in multi-user mode on the server. The conditions that cause the QBCFMonitorService to stop in the background are given below-

  • Windows Firewall restrictions can stop QuickBooks from executing its functions or accessing the internet, which leads to several errors.
  • QBCFMonitorService.exe that runs in the background gets interrupted by other Windows applications or might crash due to internal issues.
  • A damaged Windows Registry can also cause this error if not fixed quickly on your computer.

The method you can use to fix the issue

It becomes impossible to host or access a company file if QuickBooks isn’t able to run the QBCFMonitorService. The effective solution for this data file issue on your PC is explained below in detail-

Solution- Add new Windows Firewall ports on your system to let QBDT bypass the restrictions

Windows Firewall can threaten your Windows application if its settings aren’t configured correctly. It can stop QuickBooks from accessing its program files from the system drives, connecting to the internet or other systems, and can completely restrict it from running its background processes. QBCFMonitorService keeps stopping if the Windows Firewall settings are misconfigured. You can prevent QBDT from getting blocked by adding new Firewall ports in your system settings, which are discussed in the following steps-

  1. Press Windows+X on the keyboard and click the Settings icon in the pop-up menu to open the control panel.
  2. Go to the Windows Defender Firewall settings and click the Inbound Rules option visible on the left menu.
  3. Click the New Rule option and go to Port.
  4. Tap Next and select the TCP option. (You’ll have to choose from TCP or UDP.)
  5. Navigate to the Specific Local Ports option and choose the firewall ports according to your QuickBooks version. Use the list given below-
  6. QuickBooks Desktop 2017:8019, 56727, 55373-55377
  7. QuickBooks Desktop 2018:8019,56728,55378-55382
  8. QuickBooks Desktop 2019:8019, XXXXX
  9. QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and recent:8019, XXXXX.
  10. Once you enter the correct port details for your QB product, click the Next option and select Allow the connection.
  11. Tap Next and create a new rule with any desirable name.
  12. Click the Finish option to save the changes at last.

You’ll have to repeat the same procedure after selecting Outbound Rules in step 2 instead of Inbound Rules. You can now open your QuickBooks and use your company file without problems.
