How to learn The Art Of Saying NO

We all have been a people pleaser at least at some point in our lives. It was always taught to us that one should always say YES to the opportunity and never let it go. But, at this point in life, don't you feel that sometimes saying yes to the opportunity might be much more of a hindrance than saying no to it.

If these are all the thoughts that loiter around at the corner of your mind, then this article is just for you. In this article, you will learn how to say no and quickly get away with it without having a second thought in your mind. Learn to say no might always come handy when you are completely stuck at work.

Always remember, saying no to someone is not a crime, to begin with. Preferably, on the contrary, sometimes saying no might let people evaluate your value. To stand out in the crowd where each one of us is ready to lick the boots, learn to say no.

Without making any further delay, let's get started. Here are some of the few tips that would help you out in saying NO.

1) "NO" but indirectly

I can totally agree with you on the fact that, saying NO initially might be a speed breaker to you. You don't want to go through it. And it's ok. That is why learn to say no indirectly. Maybe you want to ditch your friend, or perhaps can't say no directly to your boss. In that scenario, try to make some legit reasoning to get away with it. For example, if your boss asks you to help him out with some of his work, but you don't want to do so, because you have sorted out your weekend, try to give a reason like you have a doctor's appointment for your sick mother. Now, tell me who on their right mind won't think of it as a legitimate reason.

2) " Let me get back to you."

This phrase has a nostalgia within itself. Just remember the time when you were rejected in a job, but the HR repeated this same old phrase, "let me get back to you". Now you can relate it with a big NO. So, why not use it next time for yourself. We are often caught off guard in situations where there is no way of saying a direct NO. In that case, use this phrase as your trump card.

3) "Yes" with a condition

Giving a better alternative to the people is a perfect way of saying NO. Take for instance, and yes, I would be again referring to your boss. If your boss wants to hook you up with the rest of the work in which he is lagging, but along with that you are already busy with your consignment, so the best way to get over it without saying NO to your boss could be letting him choose. Keep the ball in his court while you will be laying with him. Ask him, which one he wants to prioritize? Is it his work or the work that you are pending for the company. And take my words, he is going to back out from it.

4) Direct "NO."

Last but not the least. There is always an option for a big NO. Once you have become wholly accustomed with all the ways as mentioned earlier of saying no, it's time for you to say NO directly at the face. There is nothing wrong with saying NO. Afterall end of the day, and it's your call. You will be the one choosing what to do and what not.

These are all the options that you can choose from if you want to say NO to somebody.
