What Cancellation Policies are followed by Korean Airlines

Flying with Korean Airlines is a travel experience in itself. If you get to experience the culture mid-air while feeling the luxury of the in-flight services, it's well and good; however, don't fret if you need to cancel it. Life happens to everyone, and every once in a while, you feel the need to cancel a plan. Korean Airlines understand this need and will do its best to assist you. 


Cancellation Policies Governing The Korean Airlines

The structure of the Korean Airlines cancellation policy kept in place to maintain a balance between passengers and the airline are mentioned here. 


  • The passengers are provided a full refund if they cancel the reservation within 24-hours post-booking. This is only applicable when the canceled flight is not due to fly in the next 7 days. 
  • Refundable tickets can fetch you both monetary refund on credit vouchers, whatever you decide to take. 
  • If your ticket is under the non-refundable type, the airline is not liable to give you monetary refund; however, expect to get refund vouchers you can use towards future reservations. 
  • Passengers asking for refund on Upgrade Award Ticket are not obligated to pay any cancellation fee.  
  • Passengers who fail to cancel their flight on time or don't board the flight after check-in are held accountable under the 'No-Show' policy. This means that they are now obligated to pay the 'No-Show' fee before they can book another flight, and the remaining segments of their itinerary will be canceled.
  • Under the  Korean Airlines cancellation policy, airport taxes and surcharges are refundable.
  • In case of advance bookings, you can get a complete refund if you cancel the ticket 91+ days before the scheduled take-off.  



Cancellation Cost For Korean Airlines Flights

What you pay for this service will depend on different factors. These factors will include your flight details such as your class, your flight duration(long, medium, and short), place of origin, place of destination, number of stops if you are flying with a codeshare flight, and number of segments involved in the ticket. The following table will further clarify the cancellation fee as per the Korean Airlines cancellation policy based on the date of cancellation. 


  • For 91+ days before take-off: The cancellation is free. 
  • For 90 - 61 days before the take-off: $23 for all distances. 
  • For 60-15 days before the take-off: $77 for short-haul, $154 for medium-haul, and $232 for long haul. 
  • For 14-4 days before the departure: $92 for short-haul, $186 for medium-haul, and $279 for long haul. 
  • Within 3 days of departure: $116 for short-haul, $232 for medium-haul, and $348 for long-haul. 



If you can cancel the flight within the stipulated period, you need not pay any fee. However, if you miss the risk-free cancellation period, the cost for this service can range from $20 - $350.
