The Ministry of Economic Development takes a further step towards the basic car liability contract: the electronic model to which all capital insurance companies must refer has been approved.
The basic RCA contract is a model that all insurance companies must adopt and must contain the minimum clauses of liability coverage.
A contract that has the following characteristics:
- a standard model imposed on all companies operating ;
- presence of all the conditions that contribute to determining the amount of the premium.
It is a model with a standard structure, therefore, which facilitates the consumer in comparing the offers of the various companies. The contract responds to the need for greater clarity and awareness of the insurance coverage that you choose to take out.
The control of the application of the basic contract by the insurance companies is the responsibility of IVASS (Institute for the supervision of insurance).
RC car basic contract: standard electronic model
The Ministry for Economic Development approved the decree of January 4, 2021, which enters into force from April 30, 2021, and provides for the new electronic model of the basic TPL auto contract, which constitutes:
the common information standard on which the offer provided through the companies' websites is based, as well as through the New Public Estimate service.
Insurance companies must therefore use the model prepared by the ministry, to indicate to consumers a single overall annual price, easily comparable, for the TPL policy, while being able to highlight the individual cost items separately.
The model thus created informs policyholders about the construction of the premium cost with an indication of increases and decreases in the amount in the event of the application of additional conditions. It thus becomes possible to simulate the final cost by adding or removing ancillary guarantees or clauses.
